International Program
Overview
The International Student program has been an important part of Ribét Academy's diversity since the school's founding. Mr. Ribét believed that international students would enhance the school in many ways and he has been proven correct every year. Students from all over the world join us for study, and cultural exchange making Ribét a truly global community that is a reflection of the university level experiences all our graduates look forward to.
Over the years, what started as a small cultural exchange program has evolved into a true college preparatory experience. Many of the international students who come to Ribét are already fluent in English and are immediately mainstreamed into the same classes domestic students take. For those who still need some English instruction we provide an English as a Second Language (ESL) program with the goal of mainstreaming those students within two years. Our international students share with our domestic students the goal of attending university and our faculty support this goal by providing a challenging and respected curriculum that prepares all our students for entry into US colleges and universities. In fact a large number of our international students now enter directly into four year universities rather than junior colleges.
Another unique element to the Ribét International Program is the Host Family experience. Students live with Ribét families and friends of Ribét families. We believe that this provides a deeper cultural exchange. The host family gets to share an American experience and it is hoped that the students will share their culture and traditions with their host family. This way everyone learns not only about our differences but more importantly about our similarities, preparing all Ribét students to be future leaders in a smaller and smaller world.
