Mr. Alan Kanaly
About: Currently at Ribet I teach Elementary first grade. I grew up in Florida, lived and taught overseas for many years, and moved to Southern California almost twenty years ago. I have one daughter in high school. In my free time I attend my daughter's athletic events, read, write, paint, exercise, and occasionally teach karate or coach basketball.
Education: I obtained degrees in History and Philosophy from the University of Florida, with graduate course work at the New School for Social Research in New York City.
Teaching: I have been teaching for more than thirty years at all levels, from university to elementary, in both the Social Sciences and the Humanities. In Paris, France I managed a bookstore along with teaching History, English and Philosophy at a local school, and in Tokyo, Japan I taught History and Cultural Studies at a local university. In California I have taught Social Sciences/Humanities and General Education in the upper, middle, and lower schools.
At Ribet: I have been teaching at Ribet since March, 2020.
Favorite part of Ribet: A welcoming and friendly administrative and teaching staff, and the eagerness of students to learn.
