Mr. Richard Yu

About: I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States in 1987. I enjoy playing the piano and golfing in leisure.

Education: I got my Bachelor's degree in Biology from UCLA, my Master's degree in molecular and cell biology from Cal Poly Pomona, my Ph.D. degree in molecular and cell biology from UC Riverside, and single subject teaching credential from Cal State L.A.

How long you have been teaching: I started teaching in 1997 when I was a Master's degree student at Cal Poly Pomona.

How long you have been at Ribet: I started teaching at Ribet in 2013-14 school year.

Your favorite part about Ribet: (1) the administration is always supportive and encouraging in academia and sport. At the same time, it makes me feel like I am part of the family; (2) the faculty members are highly qualified and are able to develop the interest of students in the subjects; (3) the school campus is student friendly and has enough space for conducting games, sports and other extracurricular activities; (4) Ribet was accredited by WASC for six years at a time in 2019, something that is not easy to accomplish; and (5) Ribet offers an academically challenging environment for all students and the teachers make it a challenge for all their students to use their minds well. They make the students developmentally responsive and are sensitive to the unique developmental challenges of early adolescence and respect the needs and interests of the students.
